As a follow up to my previous post two weeks ago; 10 Tips To Being A Successful Photographer (Part 1), these are my other top 5 tips to being a successful photographer.
5 – Learn To Say No: It is always best to maintain your sense of pride and self worth. This means sometimes you need to turn down jobs because they are not going to pay enough to make it worth your time and effort or the amount of work expected is too much. So you need to learn to say no sometimes when the circumstances aren’t right for you as a photographer. If you respect yourself, and the great value of your work, then you will find that other people will too.

4 – Take Pride In What You Do: You should always be proud to be a photographer and take pride in your work. You are working in a creative field and one that deserves artistic recognition. Don’t ever let yourself undervalue the greatness of the imagery you are creating as a skilled photographer.
3 – Develop Your Post Processing Skills: A major part of being a good photographer in the new digital age of photography is having good post processing skills when using programs like PhotoShop. Some photographers try to avoid the direction photography has taken into the digital world. It is better to embrace the technology and try and master it as quickly and as best you can. The better your post processing skills are, then the more you will be able to do to make your photos look their best. Being able to improve your photos in post will give you a greater advantage in terms of your overall photographic skills and the quality of your final output.

2 – Always Give It 110%: When it comes to taking photos I feel that if you aren’t going to give each picture you take a 110% then don’t bother pressing the shutter in the first place. Put your heart and soul and all your effort into it every time you aim to capture a photograph and, as a result, your pictures will be beautiful.
1 – Chase Your Passion Not The Money: When I first got started in commercial photography I never focused on trying to make lots of money from it. I only focused on what I love to do which is to take pictures. Sometimes, in my early days as a photographer, friends would ask me how I was going to make money from my photos. The truth was at the time I didn’t really know. But I also didn’t worry about it. I just stayed focused on my passion and eventually the money came in from photography all by itself. Field of dreams…
