Following are a collection of twenty black and white photographs from my recent one-month stay in Kyoto. I found capturing images in the subway system walkways to be particularly interesting this time and a number of the shots also involve staircases.

I continue to feel drawn to high contrast lighting situations, texture, partially abstract subjects, movement, images with people, and an overall street-photography theme.

Everything was shot again with only my iPhone 15 Pro Max. At times I miss the feel of a DSLR in my hands, but for the convenience of travel I’ve been resolved to using mainly a smartphone camera as of late. Perhaps on my next trip I’ll get back to shooting more conventionally with a real camera again. It would be fun.
